Burlington County schools are closed until at least April 20, 2020. As the School's Out program operates in coordination with the host school district, the program is not permitted to operate in the schools when the schools are not open. Accordingly, the School's Out program is also closed in the schools until at least April 20, 2020.
Typically, when the schools are closed for a scheduled closing or holiday, YMCA of the Pines operates "Schools Out at Camp" days in which we host a program at our facility at YMCA of the Pines in Medford. The program typically operates from 7 AM until 6 PM, and breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack are served. We are currently exploring whether this program can be operated at YMCA of the Pines during the time in which Burlington County schools are closed. We will be consulting with the Burlington County Health Department, along with assessing what we can do to increase our cleaning and sanitizing efforts (which were already significant prior to the COVID-19 outbreak).
This exploration process will take time, and accordingly we will not be offering the program during the week of March 16-20. We are approaching this situation on a week-by-week basis, and will update our School's Out families by Thursday, March 19 as to whether we can offer the program for the week of March 23-27. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this stressful and difficult time.
As a community-serving organization, YMCA of the Pines is committed to doing what it can to support local families during this difficult time. If this situation is causing your family a hardship, please contact me via phone or email, and we would be happy to prepare food for your family at no cost. We will coordinate preparation of breakfast items, fruit, and bagged lunches which can be picked up from our Dining Hall during the week of March 16-20.
*Note, this offer is open to all members of our local community, not just School's Out members. If you know a family in need of additional support, please have them contact me as well.
Finally, we will process a full refund for the billed days in which the program is not in operation, but was scheduled to be in operation, primarily the remaining March weeks. The credit card charge for April will not be processed on its normal schedule (on or around March 25, 2020). As we have more clarity and confirmation on when schools will resume, we will provide more information on when the April fee will be charged, and how it will be prorated. Please note, YMCA of the Pines staff will be transitioning to work from home beginning 3/16, such that the March refunds will take place during a 2-week period (the weeks of March 16 and March 23). We appreciate your patience during this time.
Please contact me with any questions. Otherwise, please stay safe and practice good social distancing. We remain committed to serving you and our local community during and after the COVID-19 health crisis.
