Dear Parents/Guardians,

In compliance with the federal requirement to administer a statewide assessment program, the New Jersey Common Core-aligned PARCC assessments for grades 3-8 are scheduled to be administered May 1st through May 19th. The NJASK Science assessments for grades 4 and 8 are scheduled to be administered on May 31st.
For your child’s specific test schedule see the Curriculum & Instruction page on the District website at this link https://www.tabschools.org/Page/117.
These assessments provide critical information about whether students are on track in their learning and for success after high school, and tools to help teachers customize teaching and learning to meet student needs. The New Jersey Department of Education, pursuant to State law and regulations, requires all students to take State assessments as scheduled. There is no provision for a student to opt-out of Statewide assessments. A parent refusing to allow their child to participate in Statewide testing should follow the “Procedure for Parent Refusal of Statewide Assessments” on the Curriculum page of the District website.

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s building principal or the curriculum office.
    Educationally yours,
    Christine S. Skinner
